1997 Tacoma 4x4 Problems

    you have to push the shifter up into 4lo or down into 4hi while holding down the button.

    Lifted 2 in, After Market Exhaust, 2 Kenwood 12's, 31 in tires
    It got fixed! I took it to a shop and they said the actuator just locked up and needed to be cleaned out! and it only cost me 50$. hope this helps some one else out with the same problem

    6 inch fabtech sus lift. 3 inch bod lift. 16 mickey wheels and 365-65-16s. Cb Radio. all else is toyota.
    oh my god. i am really having the same issue right now. so they took it off and cleaned it? that is all? i am dying. my little Maybull is a lifted 4x2 and i am real depresed. same issue. i have it lifted right now and will check that tomorrow. ctm907 you may just be my hero. i have started an entire thread about this. i hope this is my issue too.

    Dose anyone know if the external coil on the distributor would cause my truck to start and then when it warms up, it quits running. I changed out the crankshaft sensor and still dies after it get warm. I want thank you for any information on this. MARTA

    If you figure what's wrong please let me know...I have a 96 sr5 with the push button 4x4 switch as well....my problem is the is no power to the switch....all fuses are good...all vacuum lines are good...it's pulling vacuum like it's supposed to just now power to the switch....any info will be appreciated

    There is a fuse under driver side dash I would start there it is a very common fuse to blow

    96 Tacoma 3.4 v6...5 speed..4x4...my truck has the 4x4 switch located on the transfer case shifter....can anyone tell me where the switch gets its power from please...hasnt worked in months and all the sudden worked for a few seconds and quit again....all fuses are good ..all vacuum lines are good as well...pulling vacuum on actuator like it's suppose too as well...... I need to know where the switch gets its power from.....thanks
