So last night was a sucess...

    Truck goes up, antifreeze out

Unknown buddy knows his shit as well as smokes like Dean Martin!!!!

Measure twice and put on clamp and block suspension
    101_1746_ebdae2a8ba64e6f0cfd9ec0d4d282f8bb846c308.jpg
    Then pull.

    101_1747_c5e92baae1567f5111c2839427ede0c74fa55a5e.jpg
seriously doesnt look like much, the pings and crackling is normal so I am told, but it sure does make a truck owner nervous.

Again not worried cause unknown buddy is the best body and frame man in NOVA.

Anyways we fixed the 3/4 inch shift that it needed to square it up. aligned 3/8 inch in wheel base spacing on the passengers side. welded the new frame rail section in. and was done in about 2 1/2 hours.

Seriously dude bills out 300 hours a week in 50 hours...hes good.

I will post as the bumper progress comes this weekend. should have from fabbed and installed except turnsignals this weekend.

Any ideas on intergrated turn signals?? Or can you make the marker light double?? Any ideas and thought are appeciated. What do people normally do for turnys with an offroad bumper?

Also working up a rear bumper and rear quarter rock protection this weekend to trial fit in. trying to figure out a flip down license plate with my trailer hitch hidden behind it.

As I dont really tow anything and just the reciever for canoe rack and a tarp pole, future removable winch, I dont really mind the hitch being up 3-5". i dont know I will weld most of it this weekend as well and wing as I go.

    Wow awesome work!

Yes, lots of people just integrate the signals into the marker lights. Just drill a second hole in the back of the housing and mount the bulbs in there, simple as that.

So i started mocking up the bumper. Dang winter nights that start at 5....So ready for summer. Anyways I will try to get some pics tommorow.

Dumped about 300 lbs of scrap off at the yard today to get the bed all cleaned out. didnt get anywhere near what it cost to replace that stuff in scrap tho!! lol. Barely enough for a 30 rack!

Ok so I got some work done on the bumper...
Started with some brackets welded on to bolt up to the upright supports I made last week.
    image_6_12f2d172a62a4a778bc820442883e74324189fdb.jpg

    image_7_ef80fba39ec296d14d4adcda0c1c53ac7b43e768.jpg

Next I built up the top rail tube out of some free boiler tube drop. I dont have a tubing bender so I got creative with an angle grinder.

    image_2-1_a825ae8e584428cb04f06d046b02830112d63d3f.jpg

Next i added a cross member to be the triangle I needed for strength as well as the frame for the step/top plate I am going to be puttin in.

    image_4-1_b8a2910236d85e41c9b9e9b65cf372d0acc6d6a5.jpg

Then I added some side lil arms for strength. These I tied into the original bumper mounts with a bolt on plate.

    image_1-1_97fce59423de50b1f9d0e5c9d9051cec8b763bd9.jpg

I then added some rails that tied back into the frame again with brackets I fabbed.

I didnt get a pic of them in while it was on the truck but I did fit them up and weld them in.
    image_3-1_14338f775bb0c935e6e6f5ae51ad7213b0d2a339.jpg

Total so far I got about $40 in grinder wheels, paint and other materials. I got maybe 6 hrs into it as well.

It mounts on with 10 10mm bolts and weighs only about 40lbs.

I used 2" top tube and 1 1/4" heavy walled rails and supports. The reason for choosing this material is because it was free_ I either found it in a recycle metal dumpster somewhere on Quantico Marine base or out scrap bins in my shop. I did buy a piece of 1"X1/8"X6' piece of flat bar for some tabs for the aluminum skid plates I am making tommorow.

I am getting it primered here
    image-1_02e35412ed81c9ede9eb56e082486bb4c1ec427b.jpg

I have to back to work tonight for a couple hours and will paint it rattle black then.

In the primered pic you can see the skid plate brackets and the rails for it as well.

Should have the skiddy done tommorow as well as mounting both the bumper and skids.

this week I will be working on the sliders and rearbumper. Just getting wore out with work and play.

Anyways I will try to post up some pics of the finished product tommorow

Put the bumper on. Got my skid plate cut bent and painted but it was getting dark so no pic of the skid plate. I will install it manana. And of course take pics and post. I will be home with a real camera tommorow so I can take some really good shots

If you look hard enough at all the bumper threads on here you can see the ideas I used for my frankensteined bumper I made. I used about 4 other bumper builds. Thanks guys for the help and inspiration.

Working on either the sliders or the rear bumper tommorow night, havent decided but I will make something.

Also got a hand me down Yakima load warrior I am gonna be working on sometime. It needs some TLC and a mounting system/frame, but I will cross that creek when I get to it.

Anyways here are some pics of it painted and on. Also some bracket pics

    subd!

diggin the chinless taco, looks just like mine right now haha

also, i spent the time and priced out suspension replacement via toyota, vatozone, and a good aftermarket midtravel, and the midtravel was the cheapest, and the best performing. winning.

Havent had time for much the last couple days but I did install a flashlight holder last night cause I was tired of it in my door. I just used a 1/2 inch conduit bracket and a lil rubber gasket from a boiler. nothing much but it works great. Probably didnt need the rubber, but I liked how it is like a lil stretchy strap.
    Light_9eff08699af368dd9b26fe3879c2eda465ab483e.jpg
I really want to work on the rear bumper, but I am having some issues.

I saw what I wanted but it may not work. Everyone has seen the "box rocket" well his rear bumper is sick. Only thing is he mounts his plate in the hitch reciever. I am not sure if they dont use tag lights in Utah, but we do here in VA so I am trying to figure out how to make a low pro rear bumper but intergrate my tag lights. ahhh so fun.

Any ideas on that let me know. Maybe I will just do the rock sliders first then roof rack theeeen rear bumper so I have some time to figure it out???
Anyways if anything new comes up I will add some pics.

Thanks for the support my VA boys. Always good to hear.

Thanks. Quite the change since you first saw it eh NicNac??

Found a 1/4 sheet of steel diamond plate I am going to also cut out some frame plates. I dont really like diamond plate the best, but for under the truck think it will look pretty good!!

So last night the repaired power steering belt started to sqeek. The pulley that is on it was from the accident and I straightened it as best possible. I bought 2 pumps and they were both for a 4 cylinder, even tho the vendor said they were for the V6 when I bought them. I need a pulley so bad if anyone has one or knows where to get one. Toyota wants 163 for just the pulley and 452 for the pump and pulley. At this point the pump is still good but may go south if I dont change the pulley. So if anyone out there has a pulley for a SR5 3.4L V6 power steering pump I would do just about anything cause I cant afford the 163 for it right now after all the other repairs I have done. Help!
