Is it an OEM axle still?

 

They are OEM from a 4 Runner that I pulled from a junkyard. Ill eventually switch back to the green CVs.

I did not know 4 runner axle fit the taco
When the boots on mine ripped a year ago I looked up the part #s for the two to compare and they were different iirc
So I figured something was not exact fit and went the napa route ugggh until I could reboot mine (which I still have not made the time to do)

I have an extra half boot kit with all grease packets for the inboard I got from the Topeka yota dealer while the full kit was on backorder
If you're ever back through my area they are yours for the repair
There is even a diy garage here with a lift rent for 40$ an hour

They fit fine, but the they are smaller in diameter where the metal bar part is. I guess they aren't as strong?? but Ive off roaded the heck out of them and so far they've been fine.

Stopped in NC to check out this gear exchange. Picked up some cookware.


Made it. Finally lost a wheel cover.

 

Next up. PA to CO.


Removed all the wheel covers to see if theres a difference.

 

Still having some tire balance issues in the front and got tired of it.

Stopped at this place in Ohio. Got there 45 min before closing and they had all their doors closed. Workers just sitting there scrolling on their phone and refused to balance 1 tire. Kid at the counter said it would take at least an hour to balance 1 tire and they wouldnt be able to do it. F this place.


This place a little further down the way helped me. I have them balance the one tire I thought was out of balance, and I was right it was way off. The place I used to use in LA sucks. I messed up and should of had them do the other front tire since now I can tell that one is slightly out too.

 

Heres my tank on the way. This is when the light came on solid. I think the wheel covers were giving me 1mpg if I had to guess.

Pulled off half way to sleep at a rest stop.

Couldnt get the diesel heater started with the massive deep cycle battery had to use the jumped to get the glow plug to go.


When I woke up.

Stopped at Feral Outdoor in Denver to see what used gear they had and found some stuff.

 

Made it.

 

I was gonna start taking some photos of Toyota sightings but every car is a first gen tacoma or a 3rd gen 4runner.
