Does anyone know if a 2001-2004 rack will fit my 1999?

Also who makes good inner and outer tie rod ends? (I may just find a used low miles OEM rack). Moog??

From what I under stand it has to do with the guide that is located behind the big cap.
The newer style has an Allen head.

Seems the newer one is better. But as to what is exactly better, I don’t know.
I don’t want to tell you which one to buy. As I don’t know 100%.
If the newer style will fit, that’s what I would do. As there was a reason Toyota changed it.I Just don’t feel comfortable telling you what one to get.

I’d wait a bit, maybe the guy I tagged in the other post will help you out.

Can someone confirm are their any variations between models, extended cab, regular cab or 2wd, 4wd? Or are all the racks the same? Thanks!

The rack I'm looking at says this (so Im confused)...

Toyota Tacoma 2001-2004 Power Rack & Pinion; 4x2, reg cab, exc. Pre Runner
Toyota Tacoma 2001-2004 Power Rack & Pinion; 4x2, Xtra cab, exc. Pre Runner

No way, I literally drove my truck to Maryland to pick up my 2002 GSXR 600.

The previous over only gave me a crappy broken key. Was supposed to mail the original with the clicker but never did.

Picked up an original and had it cut..

One of my keys is broken like that. I keep it as a spare and use the all metal one.

Damn previous owner screwed me on the fob. Just got one in. Programing is slightly tricky but I got it.

Replaced worn out cab bushings with some Energy ones.

Made a pretty decent difference and it leveled the cab with the bed.

Heres the old one with the new one. its probably about a 3/4 to 1 inch difference.

Adjusted the rear brake bias to stop the rear from locking up too early.

Great thread - you have done some really nice mods! I saw you fixed the squeaky clutch pedal, where did apply the lithium grease to? The pedal inside the cab?

Thanks. I sprayed it on the spring and where the spring wraps around the top of the clutch pedal all inside the cab.

Went to the junkyard today to find the tool to let down the spare tire. Found all the parts but the hook part (had to go to a Toyota junkyard and get ripped off for one). Found 2 jacks. Found a 4Runner key light surround (need to find out how to wire that). Was hoping to find some 4Runner SR5 sport seats since these stock Tacoma seats are murdering my back. I did find a 4Runner with the seats in the Oak color I need but someone beat me to it and got em.

Found out the 4Runner sails with the tweeter aren't the same size, like almost all 4Runner to Tacoma parts its just slightly off.

Went to a 4 wheel place and bought some KC lights. The 2inch C2 area floods kit to use as back ups. Also picked up a KC Cyclone to see what I could do with it.

Then went and bought Moog inner and outer tie rods.

Previous owner lost some of the plugs and I replaced them with the grey/blue but found the right color plugs I needed today.

You would think for the money KC could screen their logo on a little straighter.
