Also need to fix my 4runner light/mirror. Its never worked good, actually its horrible and I never use it. The light is point directly in your face and not down. Im guessing the 4runner headliner is flatter to aim the lights downwards. Im going to need to make a shim to tip it. Now would be a good time to own a 3D printer.

Always wished there was graphics for my year. Just messing with some ideas. Land Cruiser graphics edited to fit.

It was definitely a head scratcher back in 1998 when the 'super' graphics stripe tape era was over, why Toyota did that IDK

Back to the never ending tank.

Need to put the drop in for the sending unit.
    tank031.jpg

    tank032.jpg

The aluminum was too soft for the right drill bit for the tap. The hole ended up being too loose.
    tank033.jpg

    Refilled the holes.
    tank034.jpg

    Re drill and tap.
    tank035.jpg

    tank036.jpg

Sending unit still sitting an 1/8 to high and I got ahead of myself by welding the plate on instead of waiting for the final fit. One of those days I guess.
I could of just left it but I want as much accuracy with the sending unit as possible since Im using a pump now and I dont want to run it dry for too long.
    tank037.jpg

    tank038.jpg

Cut a new piece and added another 1/8 piece between, re drilled all the holes and re taped. Now were good.

    toco-0298.jpg

Looks like its going to be a nightmare. Everything needs to be taken apart and I dont know crap about checking clearances.
    toco-0299.jpg

Nice meeting @91toyota today. Grabbed some parts from him.
    toco-0300.jpg

4runner console if I ever get around to getting the rest of the parts. A handbrake would be nice to have off roading.

Not sure what to do now. I cleaned up and cut the tacoma one a little. Its steel and the 4th gen 4runner one (black) is a smaller diameter and its stainless. I prefer the stainless for sure, but I dont want 2 different caps. I think I also recall the 3rd gen not being stainless either.

Have you considered doing some sort of a T? Eliminate the issue of trying to fit 2 caps in there, but would not allow you to fill up the tanks individually.

I thought about that and using some type of diverter knob/switch. It seemed a little more complicated. Im trying to keep the 2 systems separate, in case I ever have to pull the tank the stock system isnt touched.

Im just diving in. I dont want to get held up any longer because Im 2nd guessing myself.

I decided Im going to cut where they taper so the sizing matches up. Im going to use the stainless 4th gen 4runner filler. Its way nicer and stainless is better.
    toco-0304.jpg

As soon as I start making the cut into the stainless one I stopped half way. I cut the plastic off to see where the other piping goes.
    toco-0305.jpg

Theres no holes?! It just sucks around the rim of the gas cap. Well now Im glad I didnt cut all the way through. Im just going to use the 4runner one as is with its own vent tube and cut the very end off and swap threads for the cap. They are the same dimension in this area.

I tried fitting it with all the piping. No way. So I cut it. I was also going to just make bends in the breather pipe but it was also not great. Luckily it broke right at the weld into the neck so itll be easy to put back. Ill just follow the bends of the main pipe when its done.
    toco-0310.jpg

I wanted to go to the right with it but it doesnt fit as good because of the breather pipe of the main tank. So it has to go left.
    toco-0311.jpg

Fit is a little cramped but it will do.
    toco-0312.jpg

This is where I ended up for now. From the looks of it, its very close to where I need to be. I might just have to extend a little but thats no problem, got plenty of 4th gen 4runner pipe left. Now I need to get the tank set in there and see where were at.

Trying to mock and mount the filler neck. This part is super tedious. Not much room and not enough hands.

    toco-0314.jpg

    toco-0315.jpg

    toco-0316.jpg

I dont want to cut this part up, but im going to have to, wish I would have gotten an extra one.
    toco-0317.jpg

After a bunch of attempts of tacking the bracket on and having to break the weld to move it, its pretty close now. Should be close enough to bend into shape.

It rained and im waiting on fittings so I dove into this nightmare. Bearings pulled and replaced. Just need some case bonder and a tap to fix some threads and its ready to re assemble.
