Hi, i have a question about my 1999 tacoma. I’m pretty sure it’s been asked already but I’m not able to find it on this site. Anyways i have a 1999 tacoma and I’m currently doing a conversion to a 04. I’m having trouble mounting on the headlights to the truck. it seems like I’m trying to force it in and then the grill doesn’t fit on easy when i do get the lights on. do i have to do any modification to the radiator support? if so can you tell me what exactly i need to do? like all the modification that needs to be done. thank you, very much appreciated.

Yeah check out my thread above! Have you removed the old headlight brackets or are you trying to use the same ones? The old ones do not work with the 01-04 headlights so you have to buy the fender brackets and remove the old ones

    I've done it.

04 lights don't fit in a 98 core support without some cutting of the openings.

The best answer is to change the core support to an 04. Everything fits like it grew there. Unfortunately thus takes a lot morwork than trimming the light openings. Lots of spot welds to drill out and reweld on new core support.

98-00 have the same core support. Mine fit just fine. You just need the fender brackets. Pre 98 you might as well get a new core support because you have to cut those, not a 98-00 though

I wonder is we are talking about the same thing? The fender bracket to me is welded to the core support/headlight bucket. If your are talking about the things beside the engine compartment that the fenders are bolted to, then those are the same for all 1st gen years.

No. The part welded to the core support had to be taken out dIKSPIs.jpg

Once that is out, you get the fender brackets that are only on the 01-04
