    Hey guys I have 1999
Tacoma will crank and crank until it starts. I'll
Run fine until then next morning and I'll
Do the same thing again. I changed the fuel pump but still doing the same thing I checked all the fuses they all seem to be working fine.

    Dear Shaz,

Sorry to hear about your 1999 Tacoma starting hard. Please give us some more information. Why did you change the fuel pump if your truck eventually starts? If a fuel pump was malfunctioning, that would mean the truck would be starved for gas, and, as a result, it would be unable to turn over.

Does your starter sound like it is getting enough electrical power when trying to start the truck?

    Good Luck,
    Paul

Hey Paul thanks for trying to help out! I changed the fuel pump because I was told it was from it. Happen to find out it wasn’t. So I checked all the fuses in the relay fuses and they all seem good. It turns on after trying to start it for 10 minutes. I’ll run fine and I can trun it off after I get it to start. But in the morning I’ll do the same thing!! So I don’t know what else it could be.

    Hey Shaz,

What engine is in your truck? Okay, so you have done some good homework in trying to solve your hard starting problem. You have checked all of your fuses in your fuse box, and they all check out fine. This tells me the problem lies somewhere after the fuse box. I wish I was more of an electrical expert. It sounds like you have some kind of intermittent short after the fuse box with the electrical connection to your starter. Have you ever changed out the starter?

    Good Luck,
    Paul

I'd try jumping the fuel pump for like 10 seconds, then try to start it, if it starts right up like that you'd know it's not holding fuel pressure. That would narrow it down quite a bit. Sounds like it may be the fuel pressure regulator to me.

Sounds like the FPR has gone bad or you have a fuel line leak somewhere allowing fuel to go back in to the tank.

The fuel pump has a check valve for the fuel which you have eliminated the possibility by replacing the pump
The FPR holds fuel pressure in the line until next start as the fuel pump doesn't engage until the engine is actually cranking or on.

    Just thoughts
