    Shhhh! Don't tell.
Cylinder 1 out. Rod bearing looks great. The bad news is I see why I was still consuming oil after valve guide seals. The oil ring is gummed up and stuck in the piston grove.

Maybe I will pull a second one or maybe I wait till tomorrow.

I weighed the piston assembly, (without cleaning it) it came out to about 33-40 grams more than the new parts.

Holy smokes! Has to be due to prior owner. Sheesh. Bearing looks perfectly fine. Cross hatch also still good in that cylinder?

I can see good cross hatching in all cylinders. Well, minus the area at the top where the rings change direction. If you know what I mean. I will try to remember to get a pic of it tomorrow. MY pistons I got are .020 over, so I will need to send the block to the machine shop to have flanged liners installed and bored to match. NOT to be confused with the Darton sleeves I was originally going to try for.

The mains man. Show us the mains. (Killin me!)

Measure thrust first tho. I’m curious if that’s where your bearing failure is.

I can't be all gung ho and spill everything I have in the first bit. Got to last to make the ending that much better. :101010:

As for the thrust, I don't have a dial indicator. That I will have to hunt down still. I have used a large screwdriver to pry the crank back and forth, I did not see any movement by eye. "I feel that is strange, I feel like I should see a little movement".

The crankshaft thrust play is 0.04 to 0.24 mm (0.0016 to 0.0094 in.) That is tight.

I now have all 6 Pistons out. They all look the same. Bearings are great and the oil ring gummed up.

    Oh the fucking suspense!!
Pulled off the main caps number one, wiped off excessive oil, inspected, place on the table in an organized fashion, stretched, gave one dog some cuddles, had to give to second dog cuddles. I thought to myself "how long should I draw out the suspense?"

Well here I main bearing 1:

If you look close you can see a little wear on the bottom bearing, but not enough for the shiny oil.
    :frusty:

This is not what I was expecting to find. Where in the hell did it come from?????? The million dollar question.

I do have more pictures of the crank and cylinders.

Time to grab a beer and hotdog. Back in few to post more eye candy.

Only other thing I can think of is the oil pump in the timing cover.

Truck moonlighting as a stripper? Curious how the oil had that much glitter but nothing is visually chewed up
