    ok so I think I'm going to get this, and then get NAPA to make me the remaining small length of 4 AWG cable when I figure out how much more length I'll need. Then I'll have to find a way to hide the fuse holder somewhere. I am probably just gonna zip tie the 4 AWG wire to the outside of the factory loom. Too lazy to take all that shit apart.

    This wire will be in addition to the factory wire which I'm not going to mess with.

    Got mine on the way! Thought my alternator has been going out for a while now, and finally gave it up this week. With all this talk about upgrading wire, it got me to thinking. How is the OEM wire ran? I did the big 3 many years ago, and right now I have a 2/0 gauge going straight from the alternator to the battery, and a OEM wire going from the alternator to the fuse box.

    That’s what I have, so your probably good to go unless you want to put a fuse inbetween the cable from the battery to the alternator.
    Im planning on doing that

    Went to the old junkyard and pulled one out of a Grand vitara, guess we'll see if I wasted my $25 or not haha. I'm sure the mod works great, but the junkyard alt might not lol

    Installed the alternator this past weekend, running at least 14V as stated unless the RPMs drop lower than 700ish. Pleased so far! Has anyone tried returning a Toyota alt. as a core yet?

    I kept mine as a backup just In case, after shipping changes that you have to pay for, maybe your 25.00 ahead of the game, not worth it to me

    Prolly just brushes. Is it the OEM Denso alternator? If so, definitely keep it and swap in new brushes. They're a very high quality alternator.

    Correct, it’s the OEM. It was rebuilt 6-7 years ago, but exactly what was done I can’t say. Only other time it has ever given any trouble.

Replaced stock radio with a Pioneer AVH series head unit. Focal component system w/a 10" sub powered by 2 Alpine amps. Weathertech floor mats. Line-X'd the bed. SCS Ray 10’s, Installed an A.R.E. MX series camper shell. All-Pro Apex front bumper w/ All-Pro skid plates all the way back to the Trans. Low Range fuel skid plate.
    I wish i saw this a few months ago. I bought a Mean Green alternator. I could of saved myself a few hundred bucks!

    just an FYI, I do not recommend this fuse holder, it's massive and the rubber caps that go over the terminals only loosely sit "over" the terminals, they do not fasten over them at all. Pretty useless. I returned.

    Yep! Just remember the alternator is not always producing its rated output. So when your factory alternator is making 50 Amps the upgraded one will be making 75 Amps. Not massive change but should make for a healthier overall charging system and happier battery.

    I know it’s probably not advised, but do you think it would affect any electrical components if you just swap this in and run it?
