    I did use dielectric grease on the alternator connection, was that a bad idea?

    How do I do that? I thought the ecu controls the idle

    Not sure on your year, My ECU does that for me but I have a set screw that I can mess with on the throttle linkage to raise it or lower it on mine.

    I think yours is pretty close if it's hovering about 650 after warmup. Says spec is 700 + OR - 50

    I swapped back the alternator wire, there was no change.

    I changed the air freshener to a new one, one time.
    I’m confused because my stock alternator charges around 13.8 in warmer days and 14 on colder days. How is everyone’s so low?

    Yeah ultimately I’m wondering if I should return the alternator. I need to get out and drive it around this evening. I did remove the dielectric grease from the connection as I was reading that could cause connection issues in certain cases

    Blows man. Sorry. Yours was a rock Auto purchase, right? I've only used them once and have no experience with their customer service. Hopefully the one ordered from them doesn't have any issues. Going to be awhile before I install it.

    I'm curious about your cables, did you just crimp the terminals with the crimper or did you solder also?

    Still crossing the fingers ya resolve without returning.

    I just crimped. But the crimps where really good, I can’t imagine that being the issue.

    I think it might be fixed, just took it out and got it warmed up and it steady above 14 at idle. I wonder if it could have been the dielectric grease causing connection issues. D047AFDB-7600-46D9-8E65-640AA701E9F1.jpg

    Did you put the dielectric on before connecting the cables or after? It should be put on after to coat the connecting point, I use it alot on boats/ jet-skis battery terminals to prevent corrosion. Either way, looks like its fixed:thumbsup:

    I put it on after, but from my reading it can cause resistance on direct connections. So I think the additional resistance and the low rpms I was getting a voltage drop

    Ah took it for a bit of a longer drive today and it started doing it again the drop again. I’m starting to consider returning the alternator and going with the Cs144. Maybe I’ll just run it for a while?
