Unless you are looking to have enormous thump, a high quality underseat subwoofer may do the trick. I have a self powered 8” Kicker woofer in my truck, my Civic and my brothers car. If the multiple applications don’t tell you anything, it gets the job done remarkably well.

Look up Kicker 11HS8 Hideaway Compact 8in Powered HS8 Sub Box on Crutchfield or Amazon.

I have the kicker also under the drivers seat. Very impressive for what it is. The only box that is available premade is for 2 8". It takes up the whole area from side to side behind seat. There's a few custom boxes with a single 10 or 12 but they're custom made.

I have a custom behind the rear seat for my double cab that fits a shallow 10” subwoofer. It’s made by a guy that lots of folks here on the forum have used, I have his contact information if you are interested, just shoot me a PM if you want to reach out to him for more information. It’s a tight fit, and I did modify the back of the seat a little bit, but it’s really nice and stealthy and sounds great.

I was looking into this sub just the other day. I didn't want to take up space in the back. Got one amp under the passenger seat, was going to put this under the drivers. You have good results? Just need a little more in the bass department.

If you have a single cab I run a 10” kicker behind my bench seat, haha. I’m sure an 8” would work fine if your not really looking to bump

Extended cab. I run two 12" in my car so I'm prepared for the major difference in sound lol.

That's because they don't really exist. There just isn't space back there.

I had to make my own box, using an OLD 10" sub with a tiny magnet. I built my box as large as physically possible, and even cut out the upholstery liner at teh back of the cab for that extra bit of clearance. And even then, I had to router out the back of the box to fit the magnet. I didn't even put carpet on the box. It's large enough that you can't even fold the seat down...

I'm sure an 8" sub would fit a lot better, but the box would more than likely end up the same size.

Get one that goes under the seat.

Yes, absolutely. I think these Kicker underseat woofers are awesome upgrades.

Some online reviews say the hideaway doesnt last long. Speaker blows out quick. Would you say user error?

*knocks on wood* all three of mine have performed flawlessly. Oldest unit is going three years now. (And that unit I bought as a refurb off Amazon)

I was looking it grabbing a refurb as well and getting the cheap 3 year protection warranty. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being a 10inch sub in a ported box, what would you rate the kicker at for thumpability. I dont want a 10. More like a 6 or 7

I can’t speak for this one in particular but my Sound Ordinance (Crutchfield Private label) has been going strong for years.

Hmm, while I completely understand your scaler, it is hard to practically quantify.

A 10” sub box moves a lot more air and has quite a bit of sound “mass”.

The Kicker can definitely be dialed up to thump, but it won’t be at that same “mass” level of a amplified, dedicated sub box.

I’m pretty certain the Kicker will satisfy your bass needs without being obnoxious. It also features a remote bass control that allows you to dial in or out bass as needed. I usually adjust mine between 50-75% for a music preference that alternates between rock and electronic music.

    Hope this helps!

These underseat power subs do not thump or boom. They fill in the low end nicely for a more rounded/full sound. For the price it really is a nice addition to the sound system.
