anyone see a problem with mounting it on the bed hooks on the back corner of the bed? i am thinking if it is in the front it will get in the way of the dirtbike

no issues with the install, pretty simple and quick.
i didn't haul anything like a dirt bike when it was on the rail but i would imagine it wouldn't get in the way since its pretty slim

When you mount it to your tool box make suee either your tool box is grounded or you have a ground wire ran to your antenna mount or you won't pick up anything. The way my toolbox is mounted to my truck I had to run a ground wire. I started picking twice as much on the air.

Where you ran the cable through that grommet you want to make sure you have a drip loop on it. I ran my cable in the same grommet and somehow the drip loop got pulled and water was running into the truck with every rain. I got in one day and it smelled like crap. Got to looking around and there was water under the front floor mat all the way to the back of the truck on the drivers side. It all came in following the antenna wire every time it would rain. Keep a check on that wire or secure it so the loop can't come out. I had to strip my entire interior to dry it out.

    Nice install!

I had my Cobra 25 LTD WX Classic installed in my 1987 Toyota and in order to run the cable through to the cab I used the same cab grommet located between the cab and bed (right behind the seat). I cut an "X" in mine and the first mud hole I ran through brought water into my truck which ended up making my truck have a mold smell. I got rid of the mold smell and bought a new grommet from the dealer and this time I cut a small circle (slightly smaller than the coaxial) and ran the cut coaxial through the hole and re crimped the screw connection back on. I reinforced where the coaxial and ran through the grommet with some black silicone on both sides and didn't have a problem after that.

Now the 1987 Toyota is gone (blown head gasket...warped head...etc...) :(
But I replaced it with the current 2000 Tacoma and now I am looking to install the cb radio on the roof of the cab, right above the rear view mirror. I have not figured out, yet, how to go about doing this though.....
I started a new thread under 1st. Gen Toyota's concerning "the how" for those that might know how this can be done....

As for cutting a hole in the grommet, a paper hole puncher works great!

my problem is the connector at the end of the coaxial cable. its so damn big and i dont want to cut the wire just to make it fit. i might just duct tape it up so water doesnt enter
