Cutting and recrimping the connector is not too horribly hard if you have the right tools. The first time I did mine it was a bit daunting but after I finished it looked as if it was never cut...

You won't lose quality since you are only losing, at most, an inch out of the 18 foot coaxial. That inch, if need be, can be compensated when you run a SWR calibration.

But there is a myth about really needing the entire 18 feet of coaxial...I am not a professional but this is an interesting read: http://www.stu-offroad.com/misc/myth-1.htm
I know guys that have set up their radios with 8 feet of coaxial and had close to perfect SWR calibration....

Ready lift with 20 inch rims and 37 murders. 20% tint all around and 50% on front. Stubby antenna led build in third brake light bed light and interior lights.
i mounted a cobra 25 classic in my dash..... real tight fit but just barely missed the auto shifter in park.

Do you run into problems with the antenna floppin against the tailgate or light?? I'm trying to figure out where I'm going to mount mine. Thanks for the pics of install, it's helping me out.

When you wired your cb into your fuse box, did you just put the wire in then shove a fuse in?? I'm debating on wiring to the battery, but this way looks much easier.

LOL you had the shittiest attorney in the history of the United States. A 1st year law student could have had those charges dismissed in 5 minutes.

I am trying to figure out a way to install my Cobra 25LTD on the ceiling of the cab of my truck.... and run the coaxial through the mirror mount and cross over and run it down the "A" Pillar.

The problem I am running into is that I want to be able to remove the bracket and radio so the only solution I can come up with is to drill a hole in one of the ceiling ribs and some how permanently attach a nut some how and putting the headliner back up and punch holes in the head liner....

Has anybody ever attempted a project like this?

I would put the CB Radio in the dash under the stereo but my 25LTD is too big to fit there and I want walk away with a nice clean install....

As for antenna placement, I will be attaching it to the ARB bumper once I get it.... for now it's attached to my toolbox.

Thanks for the pics! Nice install too!
If you don't mind me asking, how did you attach the radio bracket to the ceiling?

I have an 1/8" 2"wide aluminum flat stock bent to follow the roof body lines. It attaches at both the map light holes as well as the backseat cargo light. Two holes were drilled and tapped for bolt heads so that nuts could be used. Thats how the radio attaches to the aluminum.
