    Hey All:

Long, long time lurker here. Finally decided to join and post because I'm modifying my 01 Taco after 14 years as my daily driver. It all started with a rusty rear bumper and now its spiraling out of control... You all and your fabulous trucks (for example "TacoVerde", but also many others) are not good for for my bank account.

I'm going to do the corner blinker mod because I didn't want to put turn signals in my new Relentless Fab bumper. I've read and reread the mod threads here and elsewhere. I get it... I can do it.

But one question: Why can't you just re-route the existing socket/bulb assembly up to the corners without the cutting and splicing? Is it simply that the existing wiring is too short?

(I can't just answer the question myself tonight by looking at the truck.... Its in the shop getting King Coilovers and TC UCAs to go along with the bumpers.)

Thanks in advance for your kind replies.

    Regards,

    Tom (Newbie)

You can and some do, I did it that way myself.
The cutting and splicing is to install a dual filament bulb and new socket in place of two separate bulbs.

Wow. Thanks Brett. I went through your build thread, say your pics of how you did it, and the link you imbedded. You solved my problem within an hour of my first post here.... Thanks.

Your truck is cool. Wish I could do stuff myself like that but just don't have the know-how or the time right now to get the know-how. So I'm taking baby steps like doing this mod myself.

    Regards,

    Tom (Newbie)

Care to elaborate on this a little more. I'm looking to relocate blinkers when my new corner lights show up but im unsure what a dual filament bulb and socket consist of. Looking for an easy clean install and this sounds like its up my ally way but I'm looking for a tad more info

In BDN's reply to my original post, there's a link to his build thread... He has pics in there of how he did it, and a link to another thread with more detailed instructions.

I think its a really elegant, neat way to do it. I like playing with dremels better than cutting and splicing wires.

    Regards,

    Tom

I've not done it this way myself but it consists of a socket similar to this. You will need to solder a ground wire to this type.
This type has a ground wire already.

This is a dual filament bulb. You may need one in amber depending on your lens. My lenses were an amber/clear lens type so I went with amber on my bulbs.

Like I said I didn't do mine this way but this should get you in the right direction.

reason for the dual filament is state laws. you need lights on for indication and then it'll also work as the turn.

the stock housing plug only has two wires so that's why many use a different socket.

you can mod the original turn signal but either need to run a wire through the rubber seal for the third spot or get a donor set and use the wires from it

    Welcome OP...
Let's see a pic of your truck.
Your sig says flareside... do you mean step side? Ford has a flareside but that's the only one I know of.

Hi DustStorm4x4. By "stepping up big time" I think you mean going top shelf on these mods. If so, you're right.... Because I truly love my little truck... Its been my daily driver for 14 years and I've been wanting to do these things for a long time... All this expense now, represents a lot of pent up desire on my part.

Newbies always need to tread carefully, and I'm happy to be a new part of your community. I stand in awe of how you guys do your own major mods... I'm out of my league.

I will post some pics soon. Thanks for your interest in my first thread.

    Regards,

    Tom

    Hi Ritchie:

Yes, I mean a step side. They don't seem to get a lot of love here, but that's what I wanted when I went out looking for my Taco back in 2002.... Always liked that look... On Fords, Chevys, old Dodge Power Wagons. But not on the Tundra.... That's an abomination.

I will post some pics next week.

Thanks to all who read or replied to my first TW thread.

    Regards,

    Tom

Hey fellas! I have a question. I'm wondering if the wire harness for a 2001 corner lamp will fit in the housing for my 95 corner lamp. The corner lamp on my 95 only has holes for two wires, and mostof these methods call for three pigtails
    Cheers

Just an FYI to those reading this. there is a version of this that has a male spade connector built into the housing if you would rather crimp a female spade and pop it on.

the "marker" lights are only two wire in all years (95-04). that's why this mod is popular, to add the turn signal to the marker light housing. you either need to replace the current socket with a 3-wire or add an additional socket with another bulb.

I haven't started working on mine yet but I bought a 7443 bulb socket that's smaller than the 1157 and it has the dual light
