Some easy ones to check off the list: Grey wire mod allows for rear locker to be engaged in 2wd 4 high as well not just 4 low, U bolt flip, diff breather relocated. Check out the sticky section for 1st gens.

I'm near Boone NC. I know the feeling... I've been looking for a 1st gen for over 4 years. Found this one in New Mexico. I found it the day after it was posted on Craigslist, and the day after that I had the money rounded up and told him I had money in hand. Flew out and drove it back to NC. Nice 1st gens are so hard to find especially with less than 100k miles

I have the rear factory locker. How do I know if it will lock in 4 high? The prerunners with lockers could lock in 2h.

No toolbox, it's a roll lock cover. Semi rigid, rolls out of the way inside that box. It has it's pluses and minuses. I don't like losing inches on an already small bed and hard to access my front tie downs but nice to have stuff out of sight and fairly secure. :)

That is a good question. One thing I would do is read the thread https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/grey-wire-mod.4405/ and then check to see if that wire on your Tacoma was modified. Or put your truck in 4 hi and engage the locker to see if the dash indicator light comes on. It will come on when you engage it in 4 low but see if you see the indicator on the dash come on in 4 hi. It may just trigger the dash light regardless. Someone will know better than me.
