Another post in this thread listed it as 90179-18009, I'll grab one...cheap insurance

LOL Toyotapartsdeal.com has it for $1.87 but wants $10 to ship it from a few hours away from me (they're in CA)

I'll just swing by my local dealer and see if they have it or can order it

This is the same one that I blew up in 16hrs of highway driving and 2 days of wheeling. Definitely didn't come with Toyota anything stamped on it, OEM only for me now..... like purchased from Toyota, only ones that last.

I ordered mine thru drivetrain America versus Amazon if that makes a difference. 15k trouble free miles so far.

I just installed the Spicer one from Amazon last night along side some Spicer u joints. Spicer makes drive train parts for Toyota. Hoping for the best. MY old CB was very worn out.

Mine said Toyota. Even a cheap Carrier shouldn't blow like this. Either you wheeled the crap out of your truck or your rear geometry is f-ed (or it was just a defective CB and you didnt notice the tear... :notsure:).

It was a pos Spicer unit. Didnt wheel any harder than usual and that level of highway driving is not unusual for my wheeling trips. The rubber tore and failed, an hour into my 8hr drive home which sucked. Put the Toyota one in, did a 22hr highway round trip and 3 days wheeling the week after the other one failed, still rocking that one just fine.

In 200k I have had 3 CBs in this and only one failed and it was that POS $79 Amazon one listed. It may work for others but that's my experience with this part.

Guess I'll wait and see if mine from Amazon comes with the Toyota stamp on it or not, if it doesn't I'll send it back and order it through Drivetrain America

    I'd say that's a good call.

It is one HUGE gripe I have with Amazon is that there is no seller accountability. Some scammy 3rd party seller can sell counterfeit junk and since it is so hard to view seller feedback or give seller feedback, they can do whatever they want. On eBay, it is very easy to do both of these things and sellers will usually bend over backwards in order to not get bad feedback.

Yeah I agree, that's one reason I always look for the 'Prime' stamped items on Amazon because those seem to be less risky and all around better reviewed. It's the weird 3rd party vendors that get scammy...I ordered some vinyl stickers from 2 different 3rd party vendors on Amazon last year and both of them never sent me my order. What's weird is I contacted both (2 different companies) and they both immediately got back to me apologizing and said they'd reship it. Never got either one that time either. Verified my address info with them multiple times. I eventually just gave up, was only $12 total.

But after that I only buy Prime member verified stuff on Amazon now, always comes when they say it will and is always easy to return if something is wrong or it doesn't work.

The carrier bearing was Prime so hopefully it's good, but if it's not Toyota marked then I shouldn't have any issues returning it at least

that's another thing, it is damn near impossible to actually send messages to the seller. You pretty much are required to do it on PC.

Amazon is great for certain things, and absolute garbage at others.

Its crazy to think how big Amazon has become and how fast it's grown...I remember when they were a simple online book store lol. I guess that was like 20 years ago but still.

I used to buy books on Amazon in college - it was often cheaper than "renting" the books

And now we're buying carrier bearings from them that will soon be air dropped from drones and probably come with free Prime member installation eventually
