Hi All, first post on Tacoma World. This thread has been a great resource in changing the belts on my '97 2.7l.

Unfortunately I broke the bolt off in the PS tensioner... and then I broke 3 extractors and was unable to drill out the broken bolt. Does anyone know what this part is called or part # or how I might obtain a new or used one?

    Thanks! -Tim

If I can match your pics (thanks BTW) to my engine where is the best place to get a belt diagram (2004 2.4 2RZ-FE)? Finding accurate belt diagrams seems to be challenge but I suppose I am looking at the wrong place.

Hello folks, I was replacing my belts earlier today, everything was going fine until I got to the AC belt, the AC pulley nut was seized up hard, I kept forcing it and ended up stripping the bolt pretty bad, I've tried the 14mm bolt extractor from Orielly but no luck. Does any one have any other suggestion??? Use a dremel and cut the nut off?

I did this today on the 2001 2.4 I bought a year ago, I’ve never worked on a car before and thanks to this thread and a couple youtube videos it went pretty smooth. I was done in a little over an hour and it fixed the squeal I was getting from the Alternator belt.

Unfortunately at the very very end I snapped the head off the PS tension bolt. I found this thread (https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...nsioner-assembly-bolt-p-n-44350-34010.638560/) so it seems like I can remove that whole pulley assembly and just swap in a new bolt

Great sticky. Changed my belts this weekend. Only problem I encountered was loosening the PS adjuster, couldn’t get to it from above or below or even from the side behind the wheel well skirt. Ended up having to remove the airbox and finally got it loosened. Found some tips on other pages for DIY tension after encountering squealing on start up. On belts longest run, if you can turn the belt 1/2” on 14-16” pulley span, or 1/4” on 7-11” span then good rule of thumb for tension. Done that and no more squealing.
