I bought both of mine from fellow TW members. The overhead mounting bar is from CARR.

Are you speaking of just the mounting bar like the Carr that Bill has above? Or the actual led bars? Lots of led light bars in this thread http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/lighting/244444-led-light-bars.html although mixed model/year trucks including some 1st gens. And mine somewhere;)

Been wondering if anyone had used those Carr bars. How's that thing mount up? Does it have to be drilled in or does it work in the rain gutter? To me it sits way too high. Looks pretty good though! I was gonna suggest that to others as an option for no drill mounts if it works.

Paging Jason..... His relentless low profile mount with radius bar takes the cake.

It mounts with screws into the rain gutter area. Just make sure you seal them up is all. Pretty easy really. I have had a lot of people comment on how it looks high, but it really isn't. From the roof of the truck to the bottom of the LED bar is about 3 inches.

The only thing I don't like about that kind of mount is the glare on the windshield. I have had a ton of roof lights over the years, and we always mounted them on the roof, well back from the windshield because of that.

Major difference here is I did a radius bar which are all spot beams (no flood pattern) and the low pro mount moves the the bar forward. I have no glare on the windshield at all. Full disclosure, there is some on the hood, but with a flat black hood it's of no concern.
You can also build a small "diaper" under the front side of the light bar which basically just adds a cutoff slightly in front of the light to eliminate the glare all together.

Picture proof, you can see the cutoff on the hood:

Ah. I see that. Have you tested those mounts with floods? My roof light bar is a combo, flood/spot. I had always seen those mounts and it looked like there would be a lot of glare on the front. Glad to see that with spots, you don't have that.

Nope. Only with my 42" radius bar.

Thanks for the info. Will a curved 50" fit on a 1st gen though? I was thinking those would be too wide, but I never actually measured the distance and compared them.

I've seen it done. It looks weird to me because the bar is wider than the windshield.

And that was what I was thinking. I am not going to install a bar wider than my windshield. Too much derp there.

Hey guys, general question related to light installation.

When you drill holes into your bumper in order to put the mounting bolts through, is it recommended to spray paint the drilled hole after or coat it with grease or anything to prevent the now exposed metal (paint is gone where drilled) to prevent rusting?

    Thanks.

I sell them for $100, and I can work on mounting instructions.

Created an account just to reply. Mr. Blackley, would you be able to fabricate a bracket for my tundra? I have a 52" bar and a first gen tundra. I cant find any brackets anywhere and i think it would be best to have someone fabricate them. I am located in Salt Lake City.
