Question: Are your 1st gen options going to come in a DIY kit, or will they all be pre-fabbed? My brother is a welder and really enjoys doing projects like this, even if it's not for his vehicle. :D

Can't blame them really. Its a QC thing. They want every product they sell to be the best it can be. Trusting the assembly to some dude with a welder in his garage isn't ideal.

On the flipside of that argument though, once it leaves the shop QC isn't their problem. If the dude is a shit welder, it's his own fault if he screws up and they have zero liability.

I can understand that point of view though. My brother is a CWI and instructor, he knows what he's doing. But not everybody does. Oh well, if the price is right I'll still buy. Their stuff looks great and all the hype on this forum is evidence enough it's worth the money. I just thought it would be a fun project to do with my brother over Christmas.

right, but their reputation is still on the line. If your brother welds it, probably no issues. If some guy borrows a flux core welder from his uncle for his first welding project. Thats not so good. Especially if they try to resell it.

Also, another fab shop on here used to do DIY kits and it was just too much of a PITA for them.

People also can easily copy the design.

Be worth the money and wait im sure. I know the wait line is growing long...

That's actually a good point I hadn't considered. It would be easier to copy the design with it all cut up in pieces. But anyone with the time and motivation and a lack of scruples could reverse engineer it if they really wanted to without too much trouble.

I guess it does open them up to their product being out in the world with possibly shoddy fabrication. And failing that, it probably opens them up to a lot more phone calls asking questions from DIY people confused or stuck.

Still, it would be nice but I guess I can see the other side of the table too. Oh well.

If you want a DIY option, think the only one out there is CBI makes one. Had a buddy get one, he couldn't figure out how it went. Had to take it to a fab shop anyways haha

lol. If I wanted to I could have my brother design one, he's proficient in auto-cad. But it would also be his first attempt at a bumper so I'm sure we'd have some "learning opportunities" along the way. And I don't really want to be the guinea pig.

I am going to have him design me some underbody armor though. That should be simple enough. He's got all the contacts and tools to source material and then fab it too.

There is also Northwest trail and Move that off wiy kits as well as another I can't think of offering a basic CAD design file for like 30 bucks.

    Odds and Ends
We test fitted the front and the wrap around rear and they fit near perfect. There is a small profile change I am making to the front to perfect it but other wise that is pretty much it.
The rear is all good and were cutting the gates to start testing those. Were going to also look into a more basic replacement rear. The wraparound rear has all the provisions for the gates and I think it will be used primarily for people with gates and not many who do not intend to run gates.

Freaking awesome!! Thanks for the update Tyler. And agree with the more basic rear bumper, I would prefer it actually.

    Looking forward to pics!!
