True. I don’t think they’re really ham police out there trying to bust people but I’m sure if a Ranger caught you with one and they were in a bad mood you pay the price

The fcc has mobile tracking units. They don't play, it's federal law. But you really gotta be a dork about it to bring them in to look for you.

I just looked it up real quick and it looks like it's the FCC that busts people for it by intercepting their signals/transmissions. Then they send you a letter, crazy...looks like the first letter is usually a warning followed by "penalties" for continued illegal use...

...how they'd be able to track you down though when you're using it in a vehicle out on a trail is another issue I guess. They'd probably try and pinpoint your location and send a ranger after you, but I feel like you'd have to violate the law pretty severely for them to go to those lengths....I dunno

Decided I’d go out any buy a space heater to cure the paint on my control arms faster.

After going to three different stores, I severely underestimated how hard it would be to buy a space heater in the middle of the Summer.

Well sounds like they could ping your device or just triangulate your transmission. They would have to be close by to pick up our little handhelds. They dont transmit very far
