Here is a healthy looking CV axle from a set that just arrived. I should go get an Import Direct and compare them.

Toyota City, Japan (formerly ARACO; current production by Toyota Auto Body at the Yoshiwara Plant)

Just copied that from wiki, ARACO was the plant the 100 series were built in... I thought you were being funny with the name Toyota City :rofl:there's been some changes that I was slow to see:D

What a work of art. Didn't realize the 100 series axle didn't have that tri lobed end that houses the joint like the taco axles have

You saying to compare them from the outside? For the visual differences to be able to distinguish them from one another? Or to tear down and compare the internals? I think Mud has pics and stuff of the OEM and Chinese CV axles torn down for a comparo.

Just checked McGeorge Toyota since everyone's talking about them lately...they have Toyota reman CVs for even less than the place I ordered mine last time. $115 instead of $130 (after core exchange). If you don't trade in a core they cost the same though, $170. Looks like McGeorge just gives you more back in exchange for a core but still, that's pretty cool. I don't know if I'd want to pay to ship a core all the way over to them though, shipping cost would probably negate the money you get back.

No need then. Really would need to tear them down.

Check out Toyota of Puyallup up in WA and enter discount code of HALFOFFSHIP.

    https://parts.toyotaofpuyallup.com/

This was the only site that I could find to beat McGeorge price on CV axles. It might have been a temporary deal.

I'll take a peek over there and see if I can find it.
If the parts store is close enough, wouldn't be a bad idea to buy it and return it, just to get some pics and get eyes on the two axles side by side. Could help to identify axles makers in the future possibly.

There's a special place in hell for people like that, and those that make obscene noises at the gym when lifting anything.
