Id take a manual 3.4 2nd gen any day of the week over any 3rd gen... too bad you have to have the time and money to make it

 

Don't you need to reroute the exhaust because the heat from it is another major factor in the HG failure? If I was going to own one I'd 5VZ swap.

Here in Texas you can find one that literally looks brand new. Find one parked under a carport somewhere with a blown 130K mile 3.0. Seats will be perfect, interior is perfect, frame is perfect, and paint might be sun baked but still.

I get it about the limp dick 3.blow.
Was actually the first Toyota my parents ever owned, and thus the first I ever drove. I was 16. They bought it new in 94 and was a gutless wonder. I do remember thinking how nice the feel and quality of the interior felt, compared to what we grew up with. But sure was gutless and terrible MPG for being so gutless too.

 

The V10 is reliable at least but drive one first. It's V8 power with a V10 gas bill.

 

They do look good built up imo. Guy I know has one fully armored, 35s, f/r lockers etc and it looks great. Stock they kind of look bland to me but at least they build up well. Unlike Sequoias...stock or modded they look like a chonker mommy mobile

 

If you gonna use it to pull a trailer I’d just go diesel

You haven't done em. It's not the worst project but having to machine the surfaces and replace ever gasket down the line to get there is annoying. And then when you're done all you have is a gutless 3.0

The HG warranty is still active and once the recall has been done it's a non issue.

Why would you drop a 3.4 into a 2nd gen, just buy a 3rd gen.
