His system is sorta different. He doesn't have a tune, it just plays off the fact that I'm open loop the base map is overly rich. And in closed loop is trims with the O2 sensors as usual and maintains close to stoich for the most part. If he could actually tune it I'd say go ahead too, because you'd be right... But his setup is more precarious

My last smog place told me to leave the the keys and go get lunch. They do it all, maybe a different smog shop would do it differently.

FWIW my 96 has bigger 02 injectors in it and still passes CO emissions

That's cause a dyno that can actually load down a diesel is Uber expensive. They need high load to build boost and most dynos don't go past 4000lbs

Maybe @Speedytech7 can attest to that, but I feel like it runs rich in open loop because it reeks of fuel when you first start it up. They're not aftermarket injectors, they're OEM 2001-2004 injectors that flow higher.

@BartMaster1234 Had to go back and reread my post to correct myself; I had said leave the stock injectors in when I meant to say leave the bigger injectors in

The RX7 was different; 50 trim turbo, meth, and v mount intercooler with the emissions crap removed when I paid to get the "rats nest" cleaned up :luvya:

    Because #racecar

Fuck, ours are like $100/yr for diesels and $40 every 2 years for gas.

Looking forward to registering at the GF place and not having to deal with it anymore

Yeah that's why I was saying he'd be fine as long as it was warm enough to be in closed loop, but if it doesn't get there before the test he's boned

See and that's why I said I'm not familiar with the Tacoma at all, and have remained N/A

If there's a way to program the ECU, short of running a complete stand-alone, then it'd be easy.

Tuned quite a handful of cars myself.

It's California. It costs a newborn child, and your left testicle.

    I think it's like, $20?

When WA still had em all diesels were exempt cause the state didn't wanna buy dynos for that and WA didnt allow third party smog shops. But regular cars and trucks were every two years for $15 and if you failed you just had to prove that you tried to fix the problem by spending up to a max of $168.

If they get to it within an hour then I wouldn't worry about it getting cold. I thought you meant they kept it half the day or something

    The RX7?

I met with a 'recommended' shop

Something about setting up another Mazda and running it on the computer and next thing you know I "passed"

Used to cost me a good $200 per smog.

Then I got rid of the car and a few years later I had to smog my big cam, long tube header running WS6. Price had gone up and I think I paid like $400 or $500 for a smog.

    Basically, a crooked smog :anonymous:

In CO you can get an exemption for a failing gas car if you have a shop receipt for like $1000+ in repairs to emissions equipment and it still fails

It's a bad system honestly,i made it work for me but I can drive in any rev range I want with the manual. If I did the SC 4 banger again I'd use a standalone on a manual truck or an Apexi safciib or aem fic on an auto.
