It took like two hours last time because people were ahead of me. I walked to the local HD Supply and pretended I was a contractor looking at Granite and industrial jackhammers for sale.

The Tacoma ECU is big dumb and can't play nice like Nissan with the Nistune. Toyota ECU's are mostly all locked.

Why a standalone on a manual, and that other thing on auto?

Ditto, it's annoying to deal with an ECU that counts up timing by one degree per second after a knock event :/ the taco computers are typical Toyota, playing it so safe it's annoying.

I almost bought a "CAUTION! MEN WORKING OVERHEAD!" sign while I was there.

Only stand alone I've run is a Painless on my C4 Corvette.

Every other vehicle used the stock ECU except for the SRT-4 swapped PT; I had to use one from a Limited Turbo and rewrite it completely with a Diablosport….those were the days.

I remember having bought a Netbook and pulling tons of datalog runs and tuning that thing over the course of a few weeks with the bigger turbo.

I'm role playing as a Concierge today, and it's god awfully boring.

I can't wait to get home and play with my new mistakes lightbars. I think I'm going to install the Code 3 MX7000 I bought and install amber filters so I can run it on the road.

Fucking Toyota built the auto trans controller into the ECU. You could actually use a stand alone trans controller too but I was trying to keep the amount of money more in line with the amount of performance haha

    @eon_blue

I also accidentally walked into the furniture wholesaler next door before I was hounded by salesmen. I said "I will ask my wife and let you know" to get them to leave me alone.

Huh, does that mean if I do an engine swap to let's say hypothetically a 2JZ, I need to run the Taco ECU to run the A340F?

    Damn

I know other makes have a stand alone PCM and TCM; then again every automaker is different.

I don't know how the internals are same or different... Might be able to run the Supra auto harness if everything is similar to the 2wd Supra trans. I think that swap would be annoying since you have to disassemble your trans to change the bell housing or tailshaft... I'd just go r150 manual and have a better truck with less wiring.

Getrag? What kinda name is that?

"Hey Phil, what should we name our new product?"
"I dunno, hey get that rag for me so I can clean up this oil."
    "You genius. Getrag."

The MKIV auto had the A340E mated to it. I was thinking to keep it simple I could just have the output shaft from the A340F swapped to the Supra A340E so I can keep all the Supra wiring.
