No wonder there wasn't much difference between Utah and Washington between the spoken English. At least not near as different when I go to Texas or Virginia. Interesting crap. I do remember growing up in VA and calling the little things roly polys. And then moving to Washington and sure enough it's a potato bug. Utah also calls it potato bug. Funny little weird language or culture stuff like this is cool:D:cool:5a4d0f80cf698a1d008b49ce.jpg

That's a different cab and bed and the transition between em and stuff is throwing me off... Is it a custom chopped 4runner cabin with a Hilux bed?

Oh nice. That extra part chunk of body after the rear door was throwing me off but sounds like it's just me not being used to seeing those around

I never saw the follow up, so was the core plugged up then? Were you able to identify what/where the issue is?

I think my LC is getting temperamental starting in the cold, it always starts but it's begun to fire up and then die and then it'll start on the second try. Sometimes it catches itself and keeps going though. I need to see if the airflow meter is sticking or something, if the flap on that doesn't move then the fuel pump doesn't turn on.

You already did all new ignition components didn't you? Not trying to tell you what's wrong, just trying to remember what you've done as PM already

It had plugs, wires, cap, and rotor a couple years ago.

I should mention it's only on an actual cold start, like 30° and below when the engine is also cold.

Definitely sounds like what you're saying could be possibility. Stuff like that, that ages and moves in all ambient temps, gets sticky and stuff. I don't remember reading about that 'flap' though. You know if it was only on the 93-94 1FZs?

It is clogged pretty nasty. The valve is fine. The hose temps going in is hotter than coming out. Was gonna flush it but it’s 21 years old so...

Yeah it's a pre 95 thing for almost all non performance Toyotas. Performance Toyotas used the Karman infrared MAFs. The ones with the flap like I have are honestly crap, they're called a VAFM (vane airflow meter). More Air comes through them as the throttle blade opens and it pushes a flap that actuates a potentiometer. The issue is they're extremely inaccurate at low air speed, part of the reason the LC runs rich at idle, since it knows the meter is inaccurate and defaults to the computer map. They're also highly restrictive. Anywho the VAFM has a built in switch to cut off fuel pumps, a remnant left over from the days of early fuel injectors, but Toyota decided to still implement it and it may be the culprit here.
