    It's less Tacoma and more mod
    On a chrysler or a ford that likely wouldn't have run... but toyota gasket surfaces are notoriously true... they blanchard grind their mating surfaces to a fine RA. Some you could probably get away without gaskets and running correctly if they were a well matched pair.

    And you have to pull the engine to do the timing set

    Shouldn't I expect a big vacuum leak to cause it to run lean and throw that code instead?

    Shit that isnt right causes problems even if that wasnt the issue putting a gasket where one should be will improve the situation

    Depends, could result in a P0171, might result in a weird idle compensation issue. What code have you been getting?

    P0172 "Bank 1 rich" , rough idle, vibration in the floorboards, rich exhaust smell

    I've cleared it a couple times and it goes away for a while but the rough idle and rich exhaust smell stays. I've changed the plugs and wires, MAF, and checked the O2 sensors with a multimeter which is why I figured injectors were next. Plus these are the larger 02 injectors

    It's probably been compensating, for the extra air volume. You get some weird things with a leak past the throttle body

    I’ve replaced a 2uz for bent valves. It was non vvti. Now... I don’t j is the story behind it. But the t belt was new. I honestly don’t know if it is interference or not
