Ive got one year on Tyler so Im not the youngest.
    Yeah, one federal, one state.
Depends on what your trying to accomplish. Do you want to weld aluminum? If so, you need a machine capable of high frequency lift arc tig (foot pedal). Cheap, yet decent will be Chinese. Look no further than AHP or Everlast. HTP (European) if you wanna spend some more but not enough to buy American. Dont drop the coin for a Miller that you may not end up using/liking. "Cough, cough @BartMaster1234 "

I dont need to weld aluminum, so I got a scratch-start tig setup (No footpedal). This consists of any stick welder thats capable of welding in DC mode, not just AC. From here, you need a tank of gas, line and torch. You get power to the torch by clamping the stick electrode holder to a powerblock that's at the end of your torch lead. Pretty simple set up. I got a Hobart Stickmate 160i for $330 online and spent another $300 or so for a tig torch, gas line & regulator, powerblock and a bottle of Argon locally. Also spent maybe $50 in torch consumables such as tungsten electrodes, gas lenses, collets. So around $800 for a decent setup capable of 160 amps which is more than enough for any work regarding my truck. 1201171726a.jpg

Watch some YouTube videos on it, I never heard of scratch start tig until I went to school for it. Apparently its what boiler guys use since they cant lug a pedal around with them all day.
