    Tell em to fire you.

    That way you can go stand in the unemployment line

    Did they tell them why they were fired? I know it varies by state, but in CA in order to "fire" someone you need a legit reason, you can't just fire someone because times are tough. You can lay them off, the difference being that they can now collect unemployment. In CA at least, if you get 'fired' your chances of getting unemployment are slim. i.e, if you get caught stealing or not showing up, that's a fire-able offense and the state won't give you unemployment for it.

    I don't know what the state laws are like in ID but I would hope that they are still able to collect unemployment now, that really sucks.

    4 run, 2 don't
    So as far as management at my specific store, there are only 2....the sales manager and I.

    Apparently, he was going to be let go, leaving me to run the store alone.

    The possibility is still there especially since there's really no business as far as sales go.

    Actually yes, you can be terminated at any time for no reason. Just as you can resign your position at any time and not give a reason. California is and has been an AT WILL employment state as far back as I can remember. There are some exceptions such as public/civil service employees, employees where a collective bargaining agreement exists (union), employees with a written agreement in place with employer requiring a 'good cause' termination (this is rare with the exception of perhaps senior management positions).

    :thumbsup:

    @Empty_Lord - your state is also at-will.

    Because of the unique situation we are finding ourselves in, I suggest ANYONE who has been impacted by this f-ing bug and has lost their position, immediately file for your state's unemployment benefits. Even if an employer says you have been terminated and no reason is given, you need to submit a claim. Lot of things will change because of this shit.
