Changing the 1 injector on the 4runner. Can I just pull the fuse/relay for the fuel pump and run the engine until it dies to clear the fuel rails of gas so I can change out the injector without getting gas all over the place?

I got along for years by getting alignments with new tires from shops that I can't remember until one day while driving down Front St., I glanced out of the corner of my eye at the Firestone store and spotted (3) modified S13-S14 Nissans (e.g. 240sx) parked in the employee area.

I almost wrecked.

WTF this looks like a big s-chassis drifter party right here at the Firestone store! It was for a while.

At the time, I needed to get a good alignment and new tires on my s-chassis 91 Q45. I figured these guys will understand the beast. They did.

The lead mechanic and other guys were all into s-chassis Nissans from the early 1990s. My kind of place. So I got started with them.

It turned out the lead mechanic was one of the best in town. He eventually left and opened his own shop 40 miles away. The s-chassis guys followed.

The guys working there now are ok. The manager is all about his G37x and has a 4Runner. Certainly not all Firestone stores are like that one.

Though it was fun for this customer while it lasted.

anybody got some tips on how to trim plastic bed liner?? i just installed bed stiffeners and need to trim the tailgate portion so it can close

 

Sharp knife or throw it in the recycle bin. I hate plastic bed liners. Get a spray in or a DIY paint in one.

 

Majority of alignment shops won't touch the SPCs, but in all honesty you probably won't ever need them to. I've had my SPCs on the D (normal) setting since they were installed and never had to adjust them. Same goes for most everyone I think, the normal setting is what works best.

I did mess with mine once in an attempt to get more caster but it ended up I was able to get it via the lowers and worked out better that way in the end.

If and when you do want to adjust the SPCs, I would do it yourself like Zane mentioned and then have an alignment shop fine tune the rest. It's really easy to adjust the SPCs on your own using the sheet they provide, takes maybe 30 min per side

Haha I love going to Harbor Freight but we have a brand new one here in town that's pretty nice. I've been to a couple older ones that weren't though.

I'm not sure yet on how to make masks out of the shop towels but I'm going to look into it today. Looks pretty straightforward, just gotta cut them in the right shape then tape around the edges and fashion some kind of loops to hold it over your ears. I'll take pics of mine once I get around to making a few

 

I like going to Tractor Supply now as well cause it's next door to our HF. Good deals in there too.

 

Interesting. It won't start with the fuel pump relay pulled. Oh well, I'll just stuff some rags in there I guess.

 

Theres one autozone at my old town where the manager drives a new supra and a redshirt drives a jdm r33

 

Parts are in. 75 bucks for all the same stuff that Toyota sells for double or triple the price

 

I honestly hate aligning the spc arms. Pain in the ass on our alignment rack

 

Made in India? The one for my taco was made in Japan by I assume Toyota...

 

The original on my Tacoma and tundra were both made by spicer. USA. I’m assuming they’ve moved production to India all the second gen ones I’ve done recently also say India on the Toyota bags

 

I didn't like messing with them myself only because it's tricky to get the ball joint to stay in the caster setting you want while also trying to get the camber to stay where you want it. With a second set of hands it would probably be a lot easier.

I just think in most cases it's unnecessary to adjust SPCs, unless maybe you're long travel and want that extra camber adjustment or trying to clear huge tires with less tubbing of the firewall, IDK. Seems LT guys usually go for uniball UCAs tho
