Besides the hideous bumper thing, and the Open back of cab part, I would probably use it

 

I just noticed that weird rear bumper...should you can cut it out.

Its a good platform to mod from though IMO

Just speaking from experience.

 

I've been looking into flatbeds. Dealing with the the bumper in a non-hideous fashion is pain in the rear. Especially if you want to keep the hitch.

 

I plan on boxing the frame and putting a hitch in the rear crossmember. Super tall but nothing a drop ball won't fix.

 

I'm not too keen on boxing the frame, seems like it would just make rust a bigger issue in my area.

I was looking at the factory hitch though and its just bolted to a couple of flat pieces of plate that drop it down and back. I think it would be easy to just make a couple new plates that don't drop it and stick it right behind the end of the frame rails. With a little careful bumper placement and a long enough bed, it would look pretty good.
