I cooked them in bacon infused olive oil on a cast iron skillet. Little Tajin for some spice, swiss chees, onion, olive oil based mayo and Dijon mustard. #holyfuckingshitthatwasgood

I've done a mod or two
The sad part is many people in the US actually believe medical care costs what the hospitals charge.

I keep hearing people bitch that our rural hospitals are losing money and cutting jobs because COVID is keeping them from doing for-profit operations

Anyone can correct me if Im wrong here, but since Toyota has now stopped replacing frames for 1st gens wouldnt that mean theyve also stopped making them for spare parts? It makes no logical sense from a manufacturers point of view to keep making such a huge part for vehicles that are now 16 years out of production.

If in 10 years your frame does rot out (highly unlikely with 2x a year FF applications in any environment imo), I think the best option would be one of two things.

    1. Accept fate that vehicles are disposable after so much time and buy a newer truck.
    2. Build a custom frame yourself and take advantage of the situation to incorporate a solid axle, beefier rear end etc.

This is all assuming were even allowed to drive/own gas vehicles in 10 years.

Also, stop letting certain rust-infatuated members get to you as @xtremewlr has mentioned...

Too many pockets need to be lined. The fact that we have advertisements for medicines on TV is a perfect example, why medicine is allowed to be peddled on TV like a new car or cleaning product is beyond me. Theres much money to be made in people's ailments

    Oof #1

I grew up in a perfectionist household and was taught to try make everything last forever and never let it go. Life is so much easier when you can celebrate the utility of something, let it go, and move on with good memories when the time comes than to claw and gnash teeth while it falls away

I wouldn't be surprised if they stopped making them but they probably have a bunch of stock left over from the replacement program that they'll try and sell off

they were made to order by 2016. my 01 frame was hand made. they'll likely keep producing as requested for a few more years. but i doubt it'll be common.

If it was anything like the 2nd gen frames, each one was built/welded and then vin stamped for the specific truck it was meant for. Dunno if its something that was kept in stock aside from some for collision repair in the rare occasion that it wouldnt be totalled.

Huh I didn't know they were made to order but makes sense I guess. I remember seeing a photo once that someone posted of a semi hauling a bunch of 1st Gen frames and figured they were just made in bulk to accommodate the program, but it was probably just going to some rust belt dealership with a lot of replacement orders lol

I think everything has a useable life, and that its best to obtain the most amount of time possible. But there comes a point in time where its just financially/morally stupid to keep things around. That applies to everything imo, even living things.
