Aye yall... whatchu think about me replacing just the timing belt on my camry

Wow, the tensioner setup is just a little spring that slots into a peg protruding from the block

Yeah pretty simple set up. You'll know if you can reuse the tensioner

I have no idea what the t belt is like on the car or even how many miles it has

    Odo broke before the car

I need to take the motor mount and shit off just to see the belt so may as well replace it if im going that far

nothings leaking or making noise so why bother its supposed to be cheap, reliable, efficient transportation which its proving to be

On something that you’re gonna be dailying I’d go ahead and do the the timing belt and water pump at one time. Fluid flush everything and make sure brakes, tires, suspension, and other small things to make it better and more reliable. Some of the things I go through when I’m looking at buying a car or just got the car for being my daily

What’s all wrong with the car?
I’ve always bought a vehicle and went through everything that needed to be changed and took care of it first thing. Just the way I’ve done it.

Not much if your standards are low it has no speedometer or odometer a couple door handles are missing so that would be nice to have but doesnt bug me

Only code it has is an o2 sensor, could use a torque strut mount, the voltage reg tested bad but its good enough to keep driving every day

Coolant is very clean no overheats to date

Ive ordered a bunch of shit but only gotten and installed front suspention joints

Getting all 4 struts, sway bar bushings, an intake boot, pads, rotors, and plugs... pretty sure a surprise package i forgot will show up

replace that torque strut before it destroys the back mount. those rear mounts are a pain. The torque mount ive replaced for less than 10 bucks before. ive seen those rear mounts go and pop the radiator hose off the radiator on the highway.

dont waste your time. theyre great engines. but they'll rattle your teeth out with poly mounts. get a cheap torque mount and live happy.

aisin timing belt kit is inbound for the 4runner engine, Toyota gasket kit should show up within a day or 2 at work... then this next weekend im going to try and get the engine up on the engine stand and get it all resealed. might even paint the block to look pretty. Also thinking about gasket matching everything just to see what a 252k mile 4runner engine can do with headers, airaid tube, and camry cams.
