Any firmware updates available for the HU?

 

Yeah, there was one and I did it, didn't help anything so far as I could tell

 

Android auto can be hit or miss in my experience too. Hopefully you get it working to your expectations

 

Ah that sucks. Might make sure you've got a good usb cable too. There are some shitty ones.

I don't know if I have any short cables, that would be ideal I'd think

 

Yeah shorter is better, and one that can carry plenty of current. I know I have one around here that came with my google chromecast that charges at a glacial pace no matter what power supply you plug it into. The stock samsung ones have been the best for me I think.

 

I don't think I have any LG original ones anymore.... maybe hmmm.

I tried two other cables and they immediately make my head unit reboot.... I'm starting to think my phone USB port is borked somehow

 

I'd plug it into a computer and see what that does. I bet its the headunit, phone plugs are pretty robust these days.

 

Works fine on my computer. But now the one cable that did work on the head unit (it froze eventually) stopped working now

I am thinking that the phones charging port is messed up, since the data shit seems to work but as soon as it initiates charging the headunit restarts

Hmmm. Could be. Not a very fault tolerant power circuit in the head unit if that's the case.

 

Probably feels good to get the headache off your hands. After I bought that POS 85 Toyota when I was 19 that didn't run and had no title, I was thrilled to get rid of it even though I basically gave it away lol. Sold it as a parts truck for a few hundred bucks to a guy on Yotatech.
Bought it for $500 and put maybe $1500 into it to try and get it running but it was too far gone, tweaker that I bought it from destroyed the thing.

 

Yeah I accepted the loss along time ago.
And pick n pull only offered 100$. So i just asked another dude who has the same van on IG i follow and in 3 days he had it picked up from me.

told him the truth about it. Said its only really worth it for parts. And he agreed to take it.

 

I'm retarded, the battery I was using to test the head unit was apparently too low on charge, the unit seems to be really sensitive to anything below 12.5v if a phone is plugged in.
