DAMN. Nothing is safe now. The font on the new one looks wrong. The funky looking DENSO logo. The Denso type is a darker shade of green.

Also there should be a three character control code like DNC on one of the 6-point sides where socket fits. That is the usual three/four character control code that is only found on genuine Toyota/Denso/Hitachi or Intermotor parts.

The light text with the shitty stamping is the actual Denso.
Pressing on the metal with a screw driver to try and scuff it is the biggest test. The true Denso is made of a much harder steel. The knock off has poor tip placement and the tips not true iridium. Appears to be a standard nickel tip. And off center

 

You need to look up if you can run a compressor motor off a VFD. Cause they convert single phase to three phase. For example:

The Denso Iridiums I bought came from Rock. They are the long Life instead of the Twin Tip.



I see a guy questioning the TT in the picture because it was assembled in the US. I think at some point they started being assembled in the US instead of Japan.

I use the three character code to determine a fake.

Ive always dropped my truck down hard on the jack stand

Figured if it was going to fail it would be when i let the entire weight of the truck free fall onto it

Question, are all 80 series cruiser front diffs on the passenger side?

 

Looking at this truck. Project? Resale? Parts? The guy told me he had the trans rebuilt but truck won’t move. 300k miles automatic. Clean interior. Waiting for some more info from him. Gonna do some checking and make an offer.

 

You can probably make your money back parting that out if you have the time/space/patience

 

or slap a JY transmission in it and try and get $2500 for it

 

He said someone he “knows” rebuilt the trans on it. Prolly traded work for beer and got a trans that is hammered as much as the guy who put it in lol. I’d love to rebuild it and make it a decent daily or even parts to put on my truck. Idk we shall see

Shoot man. Don’t tempt me pls. Made an offer of $700. It’s been on CL for a while. Seen it multiple times. If I get it I know it’s gonna need some work. Hopefully engine and all else is great. I can see it now...2/3 drop, new bed, paint, rims, roll pan, oh the possibilities
