It can be. Some applications dont do well with a VFD though so Id research it.

This is a little further north closer to the area where the Grapevine is actually, but similar kind of environment

I figured they were expensive. A 15 HP unit is ~$1,500. Roughly the same as a rotary phase converter, although I imagine VFD is better.

The thing to remember in the case of a compressor is that with a VFD youre taking the place of the motor starter coil. Therefore you need to wire all your pressure switches etc to it. Whereas with a phase converter its a matter of hooking the compressor up to it as is, since the phase converter is just a power supply.

You should be fine. I like the rally wheel look of those.

I'm running 12.5s on 17x7s. Depending on the tire shop they may not want to mount tires if they're X width wider than the wheel.

Pros: tires less likely to break a bead aired down
cons: more sidewall bulge, may wear centers faster at appropriate PSI

Hmmmm, i might go with these ones then. If youre getting away with that tire on the same width then i doubt on the 5 lug id find the need for "more". Plus i can slap the current 235s on when i get them if there's tread left. With 2wd, actually 1wd without locker, airing down is a big one. Ill stick to 7 in. Wides haha. Thank you!

Got rotation and rebalance today as well. Tread is not looking bad at all for 17k miles imo

For a compressor, cause it has multiple safety/pressure switches aside from the normal start/stop setup, Id go phase converter. Both will do the same thing, a phase converter is just easier to install in that application.

I offered the guy $700 for the Tacoma. He said he’d let me know something soon but you know how that goes. He said some shade tree guy did the trans go figure. Really wanted it for the seats and console. Maybe some other pieces.
