I know the feeling
I have the free lifetine Saltwater, freshwater and hunting license here in Virginia. Nice gesture by State but little consolation for the real cost to me.
I have gone on a few Gimp trips
( fondly named by attendees).
Was bittersweet but good comraderie.

The Saltwater laws have gotten so restrictive I'm lucky to take one fish home legally from a day of catching.

Damn my friend/co-worker just got furloughed again, after they brought him back a few weeks ago from getting furloughed the first time.

I'm surprised CA has the benefits they do; state parks are free if you're a disabled service member with a rating of 50% or more.
