They need to direct inject the 5.7 and put a modern trans behind it. The 5.7 is a monster the way it delivers power. It’s just been forgotten though.

looks like the v35a will replace it though. And after driving the ls500, that engine is pretty damn impressive. Shits all over the ford eco boost v6.

 

The UR motors are done in the US. Maybe two more model years at most before Toyota stops making V8s for americans and not long after for everywhere else that the LC is sold. Theyre headed for full electric and with that comes displacement downsizing first and a stop on R&D of combustion engines

I don’t see them killing off combustion just yet. Their cars and vans. Yes hybrids are coming. But full electric, we still have no info on that. (Other than the rav4 EV since 09 or w/e)


I think Lexus will be getting the twin turbo v6 for the foreseeable future as the flagship. Toyota sedans will be 4 pots or hybrids (although the 3.5 refresh shows that the 3.5 will be around for a while longer)

 

The rcf and the gsf are Toyota’s farewell to all motor v8s for sure though... the v35a is replacing them coming up.

Toyota has not shown much interest in all electric yet. Battery density still isn’t there

 

It's very likely honestly, there are lots of other countries that have plans to ban the use of combustion vehicles in less than a decade and more following a decade or two beyond that.... How limited do you think your time is?

 

Let's go with another 40 years, I'll still be farting around in an old gasser

 

Hopefully Free valve actually makes its way into mass production within the next decade. If it does, that will likely extend the life of the combustion engine for the foreseeable future.

No more camShafts. The valves can actually be the throttle too... pretty crazy setup

Bmw has been using valves as throttle for quite some time now

 

The first production engine. (VERY LIMITED PRODUCTION) with free valve. 3 cylinders, 2 turbos, 600hp. 2.0l

 

BMW does not use that your thinking. They still use camshafts. This setup eliminates cams completely
