There are career paths here but if you join and still don't have the urge, the drive, to get through it then whats the point. I've heard of stories of soldiers leaving their post and left a whole team behind just to go do stupid shit. Pissed me off. You may have a falling out with your team in the beginning but in the end they are the ones who will have your back.

Let's try and see it from a different perspective.

I certainly get frustrated at the cyclists who have a bike lane yet refuse to use it and still take the lane, but the idea that all cyclists should ride the shoulder at all times is absurd. They aren't doing it to be assholes (most of them, lol), they are doing it because it's safer. Most shoulders are mere inches wide, and that's IF there's a shoulder at all. So, for someone to pass a cyclist even if they're in the shoulder, and for you to not go into the other lane when passing them, you are almost guaranteed to hit them or at a minimum pass WAY too close to them and force them off the road. Cyclists have been KILLED this way.

Back in my college racing days, we would have training rides where there'd be a group of us, and we'd take the whole lane to force cars behind us to use the opposing lane to pass - no different than passing a slow car. If we didn't do this, cars would try and squeeze by the group and would inevitably cause a wreck, which if we're honest, is only bad for the cyclist. There are even times where bikes were faster than the cars (downhills) yet cars would still insist on trying to pass because car = faster...

So, as a result, many have learned to take the entire lane in some situations, like around blind corners. While this causes you a slight delay, it also forces you to wait for no on-coming traffic and to use the opposite lane to pass. In teh end, everyone shows up to their destination alive, perhaps 30 seconds later.

    Okay, sorry, rant over.
