Hey, so after changing all the spark plugs i still get a random intermittent missfire but only above 4k rpms now. Could the coil pack and the plug been bad for cylinder 3? Its much better after changing the plugs, but getting up on it for the freeway i do that often and the missfires annoying. The check engine light will flicker sometimes, but ive yet to get it to stay

It's possible. Is the missfire still on #3? Try moving the coil to another cylinder and see it the missfire follows it.

It flashes if i keep it in gear and keep flooring it. Its flashed a couple times but hasnt stayed to check the code. Earlier it was much worse like over 3k rpms itd be missfiring so it got better. Still shouldnt be happening below the redline at all

Yeah, probably so if it isn't recording a code yet.

My guess is that it was cording that is in the seams, inside where the leather folds back over itself. ??

Could be. You can see how bad the leather is torn up there so it's hard to tell where it was originally.

Probably RockAuto or McGeorge Toyota has been really good for most parts. I'd definitely spend the $$ on an OEM coil tho.

A Denso coil pack will be fine, Denso makes them for Toyota. You can get a Denso from Amazon, Rockauto, your local parts store (overpriced though), etc

By the looks of that frame and how it's so clean yet bottom half rusted, makes me think they kept the outside of it sprayed off and clean but never cleaned the inside out and salt and water and air just sat in there festering and rusting it literally 'from the inside out'. Sad, but it is perfect example of a cared for Tacoma that didn't get the frame insides cleaned out.... Like ever, it looks like

Did you change the spark plug wires too or just the plugs?

Should be just NGK or Denso copper plugs. Parts stores love to upsell on spark plugs cause their markup is insane on the iridiums. Yet the morons behind the counter dont realize some engines are more picky and need what the manufacturer recommends.
