Exactly thats why I haven’t bought one. Prices are nuts. Talked to a guy I’ve been doing some work for that runs a car lot. He said an 05 4Runner with 272k miles is gonna cost $7k

I definitely get the free market and am all for pricing at whatever someone wants, but I absolutely would not pay the current 'taco tax' that's being charged on tacos last couple/few years.
But with that(mine) mindset you may never get a taco for that reason.
So it's like you knowingly overspend on buying one or you miss out. Terrible market for enthusiasts because people buy em for double their book value.
The market just sucks man for a buyer

Yeah keep that mindset and you'll be Taco-less forever. Book value means nothing on these trucks. And prices will only go up on the cleaner ones.

I have always had the mindset and will keep it:thumbsup:
I don't pay what most do or are willing to....for anything.
People pay book value everyday for Tacomas. That's how you get a 'book value'. We only hear of these crazy high anomalies on price because it's enthusiasts that entertain high pricing and enthusiasts are usually on forums

I’d rather have the 4 banger. Just my opinion

Yes. A vehicle is worth what someone is willing to give you and has cash in hand. I don’t look at book value. I look a vehicle over and make an educated offer

I stand by paying an absurd amount of money for a low rust, 4x4, 5 speed 2004 with 46k on it at the time. Its gonna demand a high price once I go to sell in a few years since itll likely still have less than 150k on it.

People can do what they want. And stand by what they want. I stand by you and your purchase,
I don't critique anyone's individual purchase after it's made. I hope I don't come off that way. I only want to help ensure all aspects of purchase are thought out and if you're gonna pay over book value, I hope it's not impulsive FOMO purchase. The worst purchases in history of mankind have been from fear of missing out
It's no fun for anyone when folks get buyer's remorse.
Fortunately buyers remorse rarely seems to happen with Tacomas

I have a 1995.5 2.7L 4x4 manual. Do all those trucks have the 4wd light on the cluster? I have mine out and there is a cruise and abs light but no 4wd indication light. What are the chances the previous owner swapped the cluster....?
