Is the kid riding shotgun on a tablet? When I was a kid and my dad would still wheel his TJ I always had a ton of fun. But tablets/smartphones weren't really a thing then either.

Yeah, they're so used to it, big rocks don't even phase them anymore.

Both were on their tablets. I know because they ran out of batteries about 5 min after this. Lol

For us it was probably my siblings telling my dad they were bored. And we didn't even have a dang rock crawler lol. We were rolling around with 3 kids in a base model Wrangler on tiny tires. TJ-Jeep-Wrangler-X.jpg

I've done a mod or two
Currently available are some similar flow +5cc or so Denso injectors from who knows what Toyota. My LC has pretty early (gotta remember the 1FZ was designed in the 80s to replace an engine designed in the 60s haha) Aisin injectors, two hole design, big canister style body with what can be described as heavy slow reaction solenoids. Mine are likely dirty as well. If these were a later slim body 4 hole injector like the 100 series and pretty much any Toyota after 2000 had I wouldn't bother converting.

I have a 213k mi. engine, those injectors haven't been changed ever I don't think. I live near Witch Hunter and I know they do great work. But at a certain point, you have to wonder if you're wasting money on something. I could have my "working" OEM injectors serviced ($175+shipping) and checked for flow consistency, or I could buy new (excess of $900), or... I could buy serviced modern injectors for less than a third of the new OEM price.

I won't expect miracles, at least in a setup where I don't intend to do any tuning myself. I wouldn't bother with staying near stock flow rate if I intended to tune. But there will certainly be a difference in characteristics of how the engine reacts. Though I don't expect it to break any HP or TQ barriers. I won't get into it but that entire MUD thread, like most MUD thread is just people with a limited scope of knowledge trying to high horse one another. They both ignore important criticism in an effort to hear their own voice through other people's mouths.

I'm just wondering if there are any real downsides to treating the "upgrade/modern" units as replacements?
