WTF is 'clapping'?

Refraining from posting in his thread because it's a new member and I don't want to get the hammer

 

At first I was thinking clapping cheeks but uh, yeah nvm

 

I'm guessing it's something to do with making the truck sound as awful as possible since he's basically talking about cutting off all the exhaust

should just put some diesel towers through the hood while he's at it

 

I've always heard clapped out as a way of saying worn out and beat to shit.

Used in a sentence: James' camry is clapped out
