Bromine (Br2) is a Halogen Gas with an Atomic Number of 35. It has a weight of 79.904 AMU. It is debatable whether it can be considered a Halogen, or simply a non-metal. However, I consider it to be a Halogen Gas due to the relative size in conjunction with corresponding elements in near proximity.

The Atomic Radii of Bromine is around 114 Picometers. As mentioned before, I consider it to be a Noble Gas due to its close proximity to Krypton at 110pm. Bromine has a First Ionization Energy (IE₁) of approximately 1140 kJ/mol. This is very similar to the genetic makeup of Argon at 1521 kJ/mol. Argon, like Krypton are Noble Gases.

As for safety, the MSDS for Bromine (CAS # 7726-95-6) states that in the event of inhalation:

Source: Gilbert, Kirss and Foster, Chemistry: An Atoms-Focuses Approach, 3rd Edition

    Bromide MSDS, ScienceLab LLC.

I had a three hour Chemistry lab today. This is all we did.
