That seems to be the theory
    Screenshot_20200917-234136.jpg

    But...
    Screenshot_20200917-234103.jpg Screenshot_20200917-234040.jpg
I think I'll take that risk, the theory does make sense but a couple dudes on a single thread is enough to sway me the same way a half mile drive is enough to convince me to buy a vehicle

I'm gunna need a transmission jack I think. Maybe I can make one from scrap metal this weekend that will work with my current floor jack...

Hell give it a shot, I wouldn't want that loading on mine, but you are staying with tiny tires by the sounds, so it probably won't be a huge deal with the wear. It would bother me having to load it up to turn and having it slide to distribute the load would be unfavorable. Would actually be scary going down a switchback in loose conditions. The front would want to slide. But, that said, I'd like to watch someone else fuck around so take vids if you ever actually use it.

I can probably make one, I have enough scrap steel in the garage. It's purely for the transfer cases anyhow.

Yup, that's the one that will be a pain in the ass. The FJ case I can lift on my own but attaching it to the trans solo would be a bitch.

What I don't know about using a floor jack is if the width would be stable enough

I did mine on the street that wasn't level or smooth though

It will be. It only needs to go up and down. Moving would only be done in the down position. And you wrap a ratchet strap around the case to help keep it stable. Or just let it drop to the floor when it's down and slide it from underneath.

For me it was falling off the stupid jack because it had to be clocked 45° to line up the dowels I remember after I took the old one off I had to slow/guide the fall onto my chest
