1st Gen Lunchtable Thread - General Discussion

I like the old fashioned buttons that I can remember by touch and operate without taking my eyes off of the road. Sometimes glair in the daytime makes these hard to see also. Here's an example of something good without a fancy touch screen..

 

I need physical controls because trying to use a touch screen while driving blows donkey dick

 

I dig the look and functionality of that but like @Empty_Lord says, they are pretty slow. Android tablets, in my experience, are slow to get going. Once you are in the app you want, they aren't bad but getting there can be frustrating if you are in a rush. If they could make Android tablets as snappy as the phones, then it wouldn't be too bad.

Driveshafts are dropped off. Bad news is that he basically can't use much from them since the way they are made prevents him from being able to re-tube them. I forget the welding process but it's a no go for cutting off on the lathe he said. So, he basically has to build me new shafts now. He's ordering the parts today but won't have them until Tuesday probably and has a day or 2 turn around to build them. So I'm looking at end of next week to get the driveshafts back now. Had to extend the rental out for that but it's only another $100 since they screwed up and gave me a compact SUV, Ford Eco Sport POS and charged me for the Intermediate SUV (Rav4). Prices adjusted.

Back to cutting up the 4Runner!

 

I have that Atoto android head unit in the 4Runner. I leave it on google maps 100% of the time basically. It's in a good spot and doesn't get any glare.

 

Based on my year model, like this picture, I will need to look into an Apple iPad setup for downloading GAIA off-roading maps with a RAM mount. I've been Android forever but I may need to get into Apple with a phone iPad combo. And then I need to get a CB-GRMS radio.
