Not talking about sway bars as I easily pulled that off like the Tacoma.

The running boards use a 13mm socket all around; attached via nut and bolt on each end.

The fronts have a welded nut in which you remove a bolt. Only way to get to it is with a deep socket which I have but not in 13mm.

I have a 4 runner whose running boards I removed

I used a regular harbor freight 1/2 drive 13mm socket and ratchet, worked fine

It was also the only time i removed a bolt from that truck that was a 13mm

Ps why would you take the board off the bracket... than the bracket off the truck

Just take the bracket off the truck with the board in one sweep....

The only way you can remove the board is by removing all 6 13 mm bolts on each side which we have already acknowledged.

However I cannot remove one of those bolts on each side due to the lack of a deep socket.

Rather than having running boards hanging by a single bolt on each end, I removed the 2 12 mm bolts from the bracket to the running board and completely removed the running board.

This way the only thing left connected to the truck are two small brackets held by a single 13 mm bolt which I can remove once I get a deep socket.

Damn I just felt my IQ drop as soon as I explained all of that

I was able to remove them in a parking lot the first time i drove with 285/70/17s thinking thats what was rubbing with nothing but a 13mm 1/2 socket and 1/2 drive ratchet...

perhaps your iq is too low to figure out how to do that

Ah yes another 1st version 1st gen vs 2nd version 1st gen problem:rofl:

Up until 2000 they used the 2 piece rear slider and then switched to the one you have in 01

I just assumed they'd be the same amount of area but yours definitely looks smaller, which is weird to me

I didnt steal from the front but the tools that people brought in for warentee were good 80% of the time just a loose bolt so i pocketed those

I have like 5 duralast ratchets and a flex head one that i got for free that were just going to be thrown away, after tightening a screw were perfect tools
