The CEO of Sears, Eddie Lampert is a real smart business man. He's pretty much set himself up that if Sears totally fails he's walking away with the spoils. It's amazing that what he's doing is legal.

I’ll probably only use it when I’m working in the garage. I have a 24’ one for when I’m working in the driveway.

I don’t know how Sears is still a thing. I don’t know how they made it this far.

Their problem was they didn’t get with the times. Why do you think Walmart, and Target are so successful? They got into the e-commerce trend early on and kept at it.

Sears took years to adopt an online store. Macy’s as well. As a result they struggled after the dot com boom.

This is why Mervyn’s, K-Mart, Woolworth’s, etc are all defunct or barely hanging on to the thread of life.

Crazy to believe how big Sear’s once was back in the day. Did you know they sold kit houses that were delivered by train car?

Oh how the mighty have fallen.

America values a good scam highly, just look at our political landscape and systems in place for election

I like Elon Musk. He’s one of the people I look up to.

Compare what he does to any other big Fortune 500 CEO and that’ll justify what kind of person he is. Some may say he isn’t a good person, but I think he is. He’s a businessman.

One that’s doing something to progress technology for the better. Say all you want about Tesla, but they’re doing a good thing by introducing competition into the car industry. I hope one day more car manufacturers will follow in Tesla’s footsteps.

Fuck I forgot Mervyn's was even a thing. I used to get all my shoes and clothes there when my family was going through rougher times

It’s funny, the Mervyn’s headquarters was based in my Hometown of Hayward, California. I would pass by it’s bleak, beige, and Brutalist 1970’s architecture all the time.

They just demolished it to build condos.

    It’s always condos.

I don’t really mind the condos. It sure as hell looks better than this.

My neighbor worked for a plastic company that made interior trim for a certain car company.

He told me they didn’t use spray guns. They used rattle cans. Normal rattle cans. Hundreds and thousands of them.

This is a company that is the primary trim supplier for a huge car manufacturer. He went to say that getting a permit to operate a commercial spray gun system was just too expensive, and using individual rattle cans was more economical.

    Good ol’ California.

The difference is Sears/Kmart was already dying 15 years ago. When's the last time you did your part to keep Sears in business? How about Bon-Ton, Gordman's, JC Penny? It's not Lampert that's putting Sears and Kmart out of business. The retailing environment has changed drastically over the last 20 years.

Musk is not innovating like people think he is. The electric car is not a new idea that he invented. That Solar City merger well that was basically a bailout for a rich cousin. There's no solar roofs being deployed. Space X big deal, but fanboys seem to think he invented the rocket. The landing trick well it's neato, but it remains to be seen if there's any large economic benefit for this trick. The hyperloop that's already been debunked as trash engineering that was talked about over a 100 years ago with the vac train.

It's kind of nuts how people seem to have forgot that Melon Husk basically libeled one of the divers and doubled and tripped down on it.

He taking the company private tweet, well as suspected it turned out to be bullshit.

Eddie Lampert is a shrewd business man with his own money.

Enron Husk is a down right fraud fueled by $4.9 billion in government subsidies. In simple terms like I stated before basically movie pass on a larger scale

If you can spare some time, there is this great YouTube channel called The Proper People. They’re urban explorers who go to explore abandoned hospitals, power plants, military installations, mills, etc.

This is one of the most profoundly interesting videos I have ever watched in my life. Just immensely interesting to see this kind of thing.

Whatever you think of Musk. He’s doing good things with Tesla. Hate on their cars all you want, but they’re putting competition and pressure into the car industry.

They are one of my absolute favorite YouTube channels. Just so profoundly interesting to see these abandoned places.

They’ve done a lot of abandoned houses and mansions. Good chance they did that specific one too.

I’ve been into Urbex stuff for years. Just never had the chance to go actually explore something.

As you can imagine, if property in the Bay Area goes abandoned it’ll eventually get bought and turned into condos.

    i.e: Mervyn’s HQ

hardly a blip to any of the manufacturers yet, really, they can't even turn a profit for themselves on the model 3

It only matters if they're making money. The feel goods don't pay the bills or keep people employed long-term.

You could absolutely be right. I’m no welder. I have a welder. I’ll try a little less feed. I wasn’t getting the penetration I was hoping for.

I just replaced my carrier bearing, wow it is ever easy on these trucks. 2nd gens suck ass

Probably go wheeling tomorrow if it’s nice out.

I venture to say all the "rework" has reduced the margins on these cars to the point of they'd been better off crushing some of them instead of trying to fix paint work, etc.

I know what I'm paying to repaint my Tacoma and it's not $300.

Elon is the same guy that mocked the TPS because building in a tent was state of the art
