It was an interesting day. Definitely a story I’ll tell for years. Basically called the coast guard in a panic. We were supposed to go to a reservoir but it was closed unbeknownst to us for fire danger. We weren’t going to get blue balled by this damn boat so we took it to the San Leandro Estuary across the street from Oakland Int’l Airport.

I really didn’t want to launch into the bay for my first time since A. It’s Salt Water, and B. I have a really small freakin’ boat for the San Francisco Bay which is choppy and unpredictable. But we did anyway. I’m stubborn and launched during low tide.

The boat did... as well as can be expected. It did have major overheating issues till we primed the seawater pump. It would chill around 180-190 F until you did full send Ski Boat throttle. Then it would overheat again, but decrease quickly when you’re at 60% throttle.

I need to solve a few water leaks plus the high throttle overheat issue. I’d have to switch on the bilge pump every 10-15 minutes so we didn’t sink. It’s leaking from the transom area where the outdrive mounts.

    TL;DR - It’s a $1,000 boat from 1974, I got about what I was expecting out of a $1,000 boat from 1974

Here’s where we got stuck. You can even see how shallow it is from satellite view.

Doh. That is definitely a story. You must be tired and frustrated after a fiasco like that

Is this from one of your playlists? We went from rap to country pretty quick there.
