Yeah, I remember that with my '97 5 lug. I hated it actually. It's bad enough the steering wheel is in the way of the clock, now you put a drink in front of the vents. At least that way the A/C helps cool your beverage, though...

I do have some good baja adventures though in the truck when it was stock. Took a few roads on accident that were recommended to only go on if you have a mtn goat worthy 4x4. Guess I did, but those trails were sketchy af, and somehow all of them had a pot of gold at the end in the form of a perfect surf spot, also all had a road that was not sketchy af to get there

I don't surf, but I always liked finding hidden beaches in CA. I fucked up some ankles though trying to get down cliffs and steep grades though

We found some gems thats for sure. I have a beaten up baja surf guide book with a drawn map that has shit written in all up and down the coast. Highway 1 is now paved all the way to cabo. Still plenty of dirt just off of it, but it was fun when it was mostly dirt for 2 days of driving. Hidden beaches are the best! It's hard to escape the crowds of socal, but you can really easily just south of the border.

It's not about the destination, it's about the journey.

I've driven several roads/trails that ended up somewhere I could have taken the highway. But what fun is that?

No sir left it together. I stripped it down to the clamshell and left the ring and pinion sealed.

You have to do a very judicious job of sealing the holes for the axle pass through. If any blasting media gets in (for heavy rust on cast iron you’ll want to use Garnet media) it’ll ruin your ring and pinion. (I did not do a good enough job sealing this port, should’ve gone over it with painters tape)

Harbor Freight blast cabinet is an excellent investment. This is the older poly blast cabinet, I have their newer metal one now.

1995-1997 had a different dash design reminiscent of the Toyota Pickup. Once Toyota added the Passenger Airbag in 1998, it got redesigned completely.

Hey, so I wiped together a neat little mount for my hi-lift:

I can get some better pics, so you can actually see the mounts, but hey, it worked out pretty well. Just some 2"x 1/8" flat bar, stainless rivetnuts to mount the lower bolts, and some 1" square stock cut in half (effectively made some C channel) and welded to the flatbar so the recess of the hi-lift fits flat.

Do you have a lock for it? I have the same Hi-Lift and I wanted to mount it in the bed. Good jacking point once I get those Relentless Fab sliders on.

Not really, no. I have a cable lock in the bed that I use to lock up bikes that I could wrap around it, but I haven't figured out a clean way to have a pad lock on the mount itself.

Maybe a metal cable tether to the bed tie downs?

Don’t trust those bike locks. You can bypass it very easily. I cut one off with the wire cutters of my Leatherman. Metal rope tie downs and a good padlock will get you places.

Maybe this is a common question but it's new to me. Not sure when they changed this but what the heck is the difference between green & red now?

I've always used green cause green was non-chlorinated & red was. Just bought red today cause it was on sale & decided to try it cause it says non-chlorinated too. I guess it's cause they banned chlorinated in CA but why make green & red if they are the same, or are they? Cans read exactly the same info only different P/Ns & the green wasn't on sale.

Check the ingredients of each. I confirmed the Rustoleum Self-Etching Primer that @Speedytech7 bought in Arizona is different than the same aforementioned Primer in California.

    See below.

Oh I know, I managed a bike shop for a good number of years. We used to use a $0.05 Bic pen to open supposedly impenetrable $200 Kryptonite locks. Takes 5 seconds. I could also cut into thick cable locks with cable cutters (the ones made for cutting brake/shifter cables).

It's just a deterrent. Anyone can steel anything with enough time, the key is to just make it harder to steel than the guy next to you.

I might make a hinged bracket that folds over one of the wingnuts and locks with a masterlock or something

Good idea, wasn't going to bother checking that deep into since I don't really care much but I may check when I get home.
