I built a plex server yesterday to avoid running my laptop for movies on our TVs :/

I did it the lazy way. I put kodi on a pi and mounted the server over NFS. It works for the once a month I watch a movie off it.

 

Hmmmmm. Thats a long drive for natty light.

 

I enjoy the free plex software because it can make the 40+gb 4k rips play on the half retarded smart TV. You can leverage the CPU or GPU in the server to encode on the fly. One of our TVs, the garage one, is trash and needs everything transcoded down to 1080p less than 8mbps bitrate.

 

Please. We drinking local IPA when important guests come over. No one except myself gets the disrespect of natty light... And that's only because the liquor store messed up my delivery order

 

Ah yeah that makes sense. I only have the one projector, the one stereo, and the pi plugged into it, so the pi just manages it.

And all my rips are so old they're 1080 at most anyway.
